when I was the young drummer in a band called DIK DIK, that I first visited Pantelleria, by chance, looking for a place to rest between one tour and the next. It was love at first sight. The island is like a beautiful women, it doesn't reveal all its beauty at once, it pushes you away. The island wants to be delicately conquered a bit at the time and only then does it reveal its unique charm. It is surrounded by one of the most beautiful areas of the Mediterranean sea, with lots of bays and caves. There is a mountain where in the autumn the woods are ideal for mushroom picking. There is a lake with thermal muds, the sea itself is warm. These is a green plateau with local plant species and finally the local food, based on fish and herbs that reflect the islands vicinity to Africa.
During the years lots of friends have visited me and I have tried to convey to them those emotions that have been part of my long periods of stay. Indeed it is this philosophy that is the basis of the Club Levante: to give guests the feeling that they have been there before, to convey to them, through sharing our experience, all that the island has to offer so that they will never feel that awkward sensation of a "new arrival". To all those who are indomitably "restless" and who consider the Roman "otium" as a form of sin we advise against coming to Pantelleria and to the Club Levante... |
